This is what I received from my habby swap partner Mummykatie. Very happy, I'm sure I'll use it all. Had fun doing this swap. Ready now for another one. Can't be too hard though. Dance silly season is upon me and I have a list of costumes to be done for solos and groups. Picked up the fabric for the 1st costume today

This has been my latest project. I found a pattern on line an adjusted it to fit. It is for a friends birthday today. It is the 1st time I have done applique. I am pleased with how it turned out.

Thought I'd do a catch up post. This dress I posted about previously, but I hadn't finished. All done now. Not fussed on the colours and DD4 hasn't worn it yet, hope it will get some wear.

I made this dress for DD1. She liked the fabric. It can be worn with or without the tie around the waist.
This was made from a pattern, but I only traced it and didn't have the instructions for putting it together. I'd like to try it again in a different fabric. This one had too much stretch in it.

This skirt is for DD3. I just used the waist/length ratio. The edges were rolled hemmed.

That time of year

Have been very busy with end of school and dance stuff. Just finished 3 dance concerts and the Perth Christmas Pageant in 2 days. The girls had Monday off school to recover. Wish I had sent them as I didn't get a chance to recover. I have now come down with head cold. Looking forward to the school holidays.

This is the result of cutting up DD2 favourite dress and making a new one.

This was DD2 favourite dress. I'm afraid it had seen better days and was now only good for a rag. She still tried to get use out of it until I cut it up. Hope she likes the new one. It will end up under the Christmas tree.

This is a sneak peak at the SS present that I should have already sent off. Hope to get to the post office tomorrow. If I express post the parcel it should make it by our opening date.

A friend gave her her sewing stash that she has collected over a few years. Some of it was partially completed projects.

This one came with it cut out and the bodice sewn. It was overlocked and the thread was loose. I unpicked the shoulder seams and re sewed the neck and arm seams while keeping the overlocking in place.

It just needs to have the skirt sewn to the bodice and zip and hem done. I think it should fit DD4, if not DD5.

With the combining of the sewing groups I thought I should dig up my blog so I can join in a bit more. It has been a while since I have posted in this blog, almost forgot about it.
I haven't done a lot of sewing lately. Dance costumes, mending. I did make a kaftan style wrap for a friend. We found some in the markets and she thought they would be great for throwing over bathers on her holiday, they were $50. They left today. I said with the fabric I have at home I could make one for a few $. Drafted up a pattern and it is now on it's way to Bali. I'll see if she gets any pics with it on.
In exchange she gave me her sewing stash. She hasn't sewn for years, but held on to everything. A lot of retro patterns and girl/boy clothes. Their is evenan old Vogue pattern.
I have lots of sewing I want to get started on, but I need to finish a few WIP.
I would like to by xmas:
Make a skirt for me,
Make either a skirt or dress for each of my girls,
Turn 4 flat cot sheets into fitted,
Make a quilted play mat for DS and
make a few pairs of boxers for DH.
Hope that is not too ambitious.

More Sewing

The above is going to be a dress for my 2nd daughter. It has a zip in the back and the bodice will be fully lined. It will have 3 gathered rows. I would like to jazzy it up a bit, but not sure what or where to do it.

To the left is the beginings of a tutu. Making one can be very tedious. It takes a lot of time and effort to make one. I'll add more pics as it progresses.

Dance Costume

This is my oldest daughters 1st solo costume for dance. It isn't finished yet, but I will be keeping it simple. I am going to roll hem it in gold thread and will have a band of gathered chiffon around the hip area. I am also adding chiffon to the shoulders

My very 1st post at my new blog.

Not sure I'll have much time to update it and I need to get my head around how it works.

I found both of these at the recent SL sales. I am hoping to make 2 skirts for myself.

I want to make a tiered skirt and one with a loose ?yoke with a hankercheif hemline.

I am thinking that I will use the pink/orange fabric for tyhe tiered skirt.

Will see how it goes.
